Adobe Muse, your next WYSIWYG editor...? →
Interesting article by Barrie North and Jen Kramer about Adobes latest product, Muse. Not as good as it seems, since it only spits out static webpages with a lot of unneccesary javascript and code.
One more proof that good html-code cannot be generated by a software program and needs a skilled developer.

Show your web design in a conveniant way →
While searching for a good way of presenting my webdesigns to customers I found this free tool, with a hard-to-remember name, Recurse.
I often had difficulties showing designs i a smooth way on a 1:1 scale, without all the fuzz around when using for example Picasa. This simple tool makes your web design look like a real website, even if it only is a jpg. It shows up in a browser where you even...

AdWords goes interactive
In the coming weeks Google AdWords will add a +1 button which users can click to recommend ads. Sounds nice!
Google writes the following:
Here’s how the +1 button works:
Let’s say you own a hotel in Madrid. Brian had a lovely stay at your hotel last summer. When Brian starts researching accommodations for his next trip to Spain, he searches on Google while signed into his Google account, and...

Optimizing web content →
Web content is usually the most underrated part in the process of developing a new website. And it is certainly not my specialty, although I know what NOT to do.
You as a website owner know your customers and your business best. That’s why you are the one to write (or at least outline) the main parts. Unless you are good at writing, hiring a professional writer should be considered.

Real fonts on your website →
Get rid of Verdana, Arial and Georgia
Not really new but I still haven’t used Typekit or any of its competitors. They offer a lot of nice fonts to use at your website instead of the limited amount of standard webfonts.
The fonts are stored at the Typekit website, so your website will contact Typekit every time you open a new page. This is no problem since their servers are fast. I...

Google Places frustrations
Getting your business added in Google Places can be a frustrating process. Usually I like Google because of its ease of use. But this time I feel the need to express my frustrations about the arrogance and lack of communication at Google.
The goal of the application is to make businesses visible in Google Maps. You can add your address, photos and even a short description. This can all be...

Gizmodo's new layout, good or bad? →
Some days ago I linked to an article about the influence of the iPad on webdesign. Already at least one website couldn’t restrain itself and launched a new design:
Gadget blog Gizmodo.com recently updated it’s webdesign to a what seems a touchscreen-adapted layout. This might be working fine on an iPad, but I’m not getting used to it on my pc.
If you use the regular scrollbar...

Memolane is a mashup service which visualizes your Twitter/Facebook/Foursquare/Spotify/whatever history in a timeline. Since the search function in Facebook is crap useless, this will hopefully be a nice tool to search through old posts.
The application is still in beta and not open for public, but you can apply for an invite.
